Helping Walmart Go “Cold Turkey”

01. Who Did We Help

Walmart

Walmart is the world’s largest retailer and company by revenue with over $500 billion in sales. In the US Walmart operates over 5,000 locations and employs more than 1.6 million associates.

02. The Challenge

As the largest retailer in the country, Walmart feels the pressure of the Holiday rush more than most. Given post-pandemic supply chain and inflation concerns, Walmart created a plan to increase their flexibility and prepare for the spike in demand for seasonal refrigerated foods, especially turkeys and hams.

By positioning their vast fleet of refrigerated trailers adjacent to their stores, Walmart could greatly shorten the lead time to quickly restock their shelves. To put this plan into action, Walmart needed a capable electrical team to design, source, install, and maintain the added electrical infrastructure of Shore Power Idle Reductions Switch system to keep these refrigerated trailers charged and running across many nationwide locations within a short timeframe.

03. Our Solution

With many locations needing this electrical upgrade, Walmart sought out a partner with extensive expertise in both the electrical installation, as well as multi-location management. AGI stood out as the best option for the job, based on its industry-leading survey, electrical design, and implementation capabilities. AGI presented Walmart with a robust plan for electrician dispatch and execution which met and exceeded project expectations. With a long record of dependability and best-in-class promise and performance, AGI was awarded nearly 100 of these Walmart locations.

04. The Results

AGI was able to provide brand new Galvanized Wallmount Enclosures, 2-Gang Wall Mount assemblies and Watertight Plugs for 100% of the awarded locations. In addition to meeting all standards and specifications, AGI completed the project 2 months prior to the 6-moth deadline and did so under the originally proposed budget. This incredibly quick turnaround provided Walmart with ample time to prepare, stock, and sell thousands of additional holiday meal staples.
